The Woodpecker tapestry is part of the William Morris Collection. It is based on his poem about Picus, the Italian King who was transformed into a woodpecker. William Morris was a distinguished artist and designer from the 19th century. Despite his ambition to become a painter and writer, his greatest achievements were with textile designs.
