From a painting by Edmund Blair Leighton (1853-1922). Leighton was the son of artist Charles Blair Leighton and famous for his medieval and romantic designs. Godspeed is an old English word meaning "May God help you prosper". It was said to one leaving wishing him a prosperous journey.
